PRESENTATION OF THE KILIMANDJARO
The ice capped, dormant volcano rises over 5km from the surrounding plains. The youngest and highest peak is the distinctive ice capped dome of Kibo, actually a large crater. The highest point is Uhuru peak which stands at 5895m – ‘the roof of Africa’! Kilimanjaro is a National Park and a World Heritage Site. It is Africa’s highest and the world’s tallest free standing mountain, cover some 3,885 square kilometers. It is also exceptionally beautiful from afar and close up. It is not only visually bewitching, but also bears a rich history of adventure and fable cloaked in the mysterious and shadowy magic of nature. It offers one a transformative awareness of something larger and far more radiant than its mere material presence.
