PRESENTATION OF THE PARC

Serengeti National Park is an iconic eco region in Tanzania that is most famously known for the sighting of The Great Migration. It is part of the Serengeti ecosystem which is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and one of the Ten Natural Travel Wonders of the World.
Serengeti which translates into English as “Endless plains,” is a Maasai word which they named when they used to graze their livestock in here and, according to them, the land run forever and never seems to be ending, which only signifies the vastness of this area.
The Great Migration move from north through the park area seeking new pasture lands towards southern plains and then venture into Kenya. The vast Serengeti National Park, pasture lands, and rivers like Mara and Grumeti perfectly accommodate the wildebeests who spend somewhere close to six to seven months in this park. Apart from that, the Big Five can be easily spotted here along with cheetahs, hyenas, monkeys, and porcupines.
The landscapes of this place mostly consist of grassland plains, savannas, forests, woodlands, hills, and rivers. Among the unique sights, calving by wildebeests and chasing and hunting by predators are a major attraction.

How to get there?

The Kilimanjaro International Airport is the closest to Serengeti National Park. Start your journey from Arusha and the most convenient way to get from Arusha to the Serengeti is by taking a small plane to one of the various airstrips in the park.
The drive from Arusha to the Serengeti is about 325km and will take about eight hours. It is a rough ride and, for a large part, over dusty roads – but the trip offers beautiful sceneries on its way to the park.

Best activities

Game viewing, balloon Safari, skipping to Ngorongoro Crater, Interaction with Maasai People.

Best known for

Annual Great Migration of wild beasts.

Best time to visit

January-February is the best for the wildebeest calving and June-September for general wildlife viewing when you can have a chance of seeing the wildebeest crossing the Grumeti River.

Annual migration

2.5 million Mammals of Serengeti in Tanzania will be marching towards Kenya’s Massai Mara in search of fresh pasture and water. This is the biggest ever annual drama ever staged on Earth. Calving and hunting by chasing predators are the unique events to watch here.

Balloon safari

Float in a hot air balloon over the famous Serengeti National Park with its enchanting scenery and vistas looking down to find the millions dotting over the great savannah. It is an excitement beyond imagination.

Naabi Hill

Situated in Eastern Serengeti by the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Naabi Hill serves as Serengeti National Park’s main entrance and the walking safaris are mostly recommended here.
Naabi Hill’s walking trail, offers some of the best views of the Serengeti. This acacia-covered hill also acts as the home for a pride of lions and welcomes millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles during the annual Great Migration.

Visiting Massai Village

Maasais are the most well-known local tribe in East Africa. Learn about their customs, traditions, and lifestyle. Many Maasai villages, are called Maasai bomas. A visit to a traditional Massai boma that is made of sticks, mud, and cow manure or visiting to the village school or purchasing handicrafts and jewelries produced by members of the village are always awe-exciting.

Visit the Moru Kopjes

Kopjes are interesting weathered gigantic rock formations that rise out of the central Serengeti plains like little mountains. These rock formations provide shade, small water pools, and a great vantage point for many animals, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs.Serengeti never dies.

Tanzania is loved by its vast open plains that offer some of the best game viewing in Africa…
