The routes to Kilimanjaro

Marangu Route

Difficulty : Easy - Costs : Low

72 km - 5/6 Days

Popular tourist route, approaches from southeast,
easy, gentle gradients, beautiful montana rain forest section and moorlands,
comfortable but basic hut shelter, poor acclimatization profile,
descent on same trail.

Machame Route

Difficulty : Medium - Costs : Medium

62 km - 6/7 Days

Most popular route, approaches
from south, very scenic route with southern traverse, difficult
route but very good for acclimatization, camping.

Rongai Route

Difficulty : Easy - Costs : Medium

73 km - 6/7 Days

Long access drive to trailhead, approaches from
north, remote, less frequented, easy, gentle gradients, beautiful
alpine desert section, good alternative to Marangu, camping,
fair acclimatization profile, camping.

Lemosho Route

Difficulty : Difficult / Costs : High

70 km - 7/8 Days

Long access drive to trailhead, approaches from
west, remote, less frequented, beautiful heath section, very
scenic with southern traverse, camping, difficult route but
excellent for acclimatization, camping. 

Shira Route

Difficulty : Difficult / Costs : High

56 km - 7/8 Days

Almost same as Lemosho, approaches from west,
long access drive to trailhead, trail starts at 11,800 ft, remote,
less frequented, beautiful heath section, very scenic with southern
traverse, camping, difficult route but excellent for acclimatization
if ok at 11,800 ft, camping.

Northern Circuit

Difficulty : Difficult - Costs : Very High

98 km - 9 Days

Newest route, very few climbers, approaches from west, very scenic with northern
traverse, nearly 360 degree traverse, best route for acclimatization profile,
longest route, camping.

Umbwe Route

Difficulty : Very difficult / Costs : Very High

53 km - 5/6 Days

Least used trail, approaches from south, shortest
and steepest route, spectacular ridge, scenic with southern
traverse, difficult route with poor acclimatization profile,
pre-acclimatization is recommended, camping.

Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park is a small park but promises and delivers on mesmerizing landscapes. It is located in Arusha Region of north eastern Tanzania. To the west of the park lies Meru Crater. In the southeast, you can see the Ngurdoto Crater which is grassland. In the northeast, there’s shallow Momella Lake famous for waders. It’s the second highest peak after Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and it is an ideal trekking site for acclimatization before Kilimanjaro attempt.

Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is one of the important parks in Tanzania both from distinctive and economical standpoint. Is located in the Manyara region and is home to a diverse range of wildlife species. The pristine grasslands are as a result of little to no human involvement which is fed by underground springs of Lake Manyara.

Ruaha National Park

Ruaha National Park is the largest national park of Tanzania, and is often called, “beautiful, unspoilt Africa” by travelers. Unlike Serengeti National Park and Tarangire National Park it receives fewer tourists and hence is a quiet and calmer place. It is located in the middle of Tanzania and covers an area of 20,226 square kilometers.

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti which translates into English as “Endless plains,” is a Maasai word which they named when they used to graze their livestock in here and, according to them, the land run forever and never seems to be ending, which only signifies the vastness of this area.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is one of those parks in Tanzania which has a high density of wildlife and bird species.
This park is deemed excellent for Camping Adventure Safaris and Hot Air Balloon Safaris.

Ngorongoro conservation area

The area of Ngorongoro is as pristine and free from human involvement as anything else
One of the largest protected areas in the world and an UNESCO World Heritage Site

Serengeti Wildebeest immigration

The great Serengeti wildebeest migration is the movement of vast numbers of the Serengeti’s wildebeest, accompanied by large numbers of zebra, and smaller numbers of Grant’s gazelle, Thomson’s gazelle, eland and impala.

Mahale National Parc

Famous for containing some of the last remaining wild chimpanzees in Africa. 
The land in and around Mahale is the traditional homeland of the Watongwe and Waholoholo tribes.
